Dear First State School Community,

Welcome to the First State School for Students with Complex Medical Needs. We are honored to be a school that prioritizes personalized care and educational excellence for children who face significant health challenges. At the First State School, day to day intensive individually planned services, educational services, medical and total case management are provided in a setting where children and adolescents can grow socially, emotionally, and intellectually.

Our dedicated team of educators, healthcare professionals, and support staff work collaboratively to ensure that each student receives the best possible care and education. We are deeply committed to creating an inclusive atmosphere that values the unique strengths of every child, empowering them to reach their full potential.

At our school, we believe that learning goes beyond academics. We emphasize the importance of social development, emotional well-being, and fostering strong connections between our students, their families, and our school community.

Thank you for entrusting us with your child's education and care. Together, we can make a positive impact on their lives and help them achieve their dreams.  Please reach out to us any time with questions or concerns at (302)-320-5858

Warm regards,

Kathie Mattix

We are a specialized program, dedicated to supporting students living with chronic illnesses.  Our mission is to empower students with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively manage their health while embracing their role as students.  We believe that chronic illness is just one part of who they are, and our goal is to help them navigate their academic journey without allowing their illness to define who they are.
